IT’S A BIG LIE – THE EXTRADITION BILL IS NOT WITHDRAWN

Although Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam has announced that the extradition bill is officially withdrawn, the undemocratic Hong Kong government structure keeps this evil bill forever alive, which makes the withdrawn completely not credible.

THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL IS PRO-BEIJING AND CAN RE-RAISE THE BILL AT ANY MOMENT

The Legislative Council in Hong Kong processes the power to re-raise and also withdraw the extradition bill. Sadly, the undemocratic election method makes the current council pro-Beijing.

The council is formed by 70 elected councilors. Fifty percent is elected by Hong Kong citizens, everyone has the vote. However the other half is not. In a city with 8 millions people, only around 230000 of them have the votes to elect these 35 seats, which means that some people ( who are mostly financially benefited from China ) have much more saying on Hong Kong matters.

GOVERNMENT DISQUALIFIED PRO-DEMOCRATIC COUNCILORS

From 2016-2017, the government disqualified 6 pro-democratic councilors, claiming that their vow towards the council did not sound sincere enough.

In 2016, when pro-democratic councilor Mr. Nathan Law Kwun-chung finished his vow, the pro-Beijing party challenged that his vow did not sound sincere as the pitch of the last word was too high. And He was later disqualified. The other five were disqualified as well, as the government challenged their sincerity.

THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE IS PRO-BEIJING

If you found the Legislative Council election method ridiculous, you would found the Chief Executive election method is completely barbaric.

Only 1200 people out of 8 millions have the rights to vote for the Chief Executive election. These 1200 again were elected by the minority 230000 people who are mostly financially benefited from China, meaning 3 percent of the people in the society are controlling the fate the rest of the 97 percent !

UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRUE DEMOCRACY

A democratic government should be elected by all the citizens, in order to avoid power being abused by the privileged and rights being exploited from the underprivileged.

In 1989, China promised Hong Kong people a true democratic system in the Sino-British Joint Declaration. However since 1997 the return of the sovereignty, there is absolutely no progress in Hong Kong democracy. 22 years have passed, China does not keep her promise and govern her people with lies and suppression.

THE FIVE DEMANDS INCLUDES UNIVERSAL SUFFRAGE

The protest in Hong Kong right now does not only asking for the withdrawal of the extradition bill. In fact, it is just one of the FIVE DEMANDS. And universal suffrage is one of them. Not until all these demands are met, no protesters will back down.

Here are the FIVE DEMANDS

1. Full withdrawal of the extradition bill
2. A commission of inquiry into alleged police brutality
3. Retracting the classification of protests as riots. ( If protesters are sentenced as rioters, they will face up to 10 years of jail)
4. Amnesty for arrested protesters
5. Dual universal suffrage (Legislative Council and Chief Executive elections)

PLEASE STAND WITH HONG KONG TILL DEMOCRACY WINS

Hong Kong people live under China suppression for already 22 years. Hong Kong people mother language ( Cantonese ) is being suppressed, people jailed for speaking what they want, broadcasting companies being pressurized, history books re-written, land ceded, colonial architecture removed, hospitals and university degrees abused by Chinese people, welfare for people is getting worse day by day….etc.

Right now people are facing extensive government supervision, years of jails, police and triad brutality. With 8 people committed suicide, 1 person went missing ( body cannot be found after beaten by police) and more than 1000 arrested, protesters cannot and will not back down until all demands are met.
